Making skills count during Literacy Works week

Unionlearn will be holding its next “Making skills count” event for the Trade Union English, maths and digital skills network on Thursday 28th February.

Unionlean Policy Officer Kirsi Kekki said:

Open University has developed new free English and maths courses online to help people with their basic skills and prepare them to further learning. UNISON has developed an interesting initiative on digital champions.”

Come join us in the year’s first English, maths and digital skills network meeting to discuss these and other exciting topics.”

Agenda for the day:

  • 10.00   Arrival coffee/tea
  • 10.30   Kick-off and welcome
  • 10.35   English and maths courses - Andrew Law, Open University
  • 11.15   Developing digital champions - Katie Shaw, UNISON
  • 12.00   Dyslexia & Dyscalculia…so much more than ABC and 123 - Janette Beetham, Right Resources
  • 13.00   Sandwich lunch and close

This event is an opportunity to discuss English, maths and digital skills learning support in the workplace.

Unionlearn welcomes union reps and project workers and others who are interested in policy developments, supporting English, maths and digital skills learning and sharing good trade union practice.

The February meeting is being held in the UNISON Centre on Euston Road in central London.
