London’s Birkbeck College will be holding a 'Higher Education for Union Learners' ULR Skills Workshop this June. The event is for union learning rep's or organiser's interested in finding out more about higher education, its career benefits and how to promote this to union members.

Birkbeck are inviting ULR’s to join other trade union colleagues for a free, friendly and informative session to support you in having learning conversations with members about higher education.

They will be introducing the 10% discount for union members and giving an overview of the help and support which is available at Birkbeck for people who may have been out of education for a number of years.

The event will also give you the chance to:

• learn and practice a simple coaching technique to help you have conversations with members who are interested in taking the next steps into learning.
• hear from Birkbeck's Careers and Employability Service about how to pitch higher education to employers and the career benefits of doing a degree.
• find out more about higher education qualifications with an interactive session from Linking London
• give feedback on the toolkit we're developing with unionlearn to help union learning reps with supporting learners into higher education at Birkbeck.

The event will finish with an optional campus tour for those who are interested in exploring further.

The event is free and refreshments will be provided and is open to ULRS, Branch Learning/Lifelong Learning Coordinators, Learning Organisers, Project Workers, Branch Secretaries and other union reps with an interest in supporting members to access learning.
